How to find what is actually stalling your revenue
When growth flattens, most founders fix the loudest symptom and spend faster on the wrong thing. The real cause is usually one gap upstream. Here is how to find it before you commit a dollar or a hire.
1 Separate the symptom from the cause
Flat revenue, leads that do not convert, and a quiet pipeline are symptoms. The cause sits earlier: positioning a buyer does not understand, a site that does not tell the story, an offer that does not land, or leads handed off with no system. Write down what you are seeing, then ask what would have to be true upstream for that symptom to exist.
2 Read your site the way a buyer does
Open your homepage as if you have never heard of you. In five seconds, can a stranger tell what you do, who it is for, and why it beats the alternative? Most stalls are a translation gap: the product is good, but the site does not say the thing a buyer needs to hear to act. If you cannot pass the five-second test, the gap is usually message and site, not traffic.
3 Follow one lead end to end
Trace a single real lead from first touch to where it stalled. Where did it go cold, and what was missing at that moment, clarity, follow-up, proof, or a clear next step? The point of failure is almost never where you assumed it was.
4 Check whether you are about to hire for the wrong gap
Founders often hire a salesperson to fix a problem a salesperson cannot fix. If the message or offer is not converting the traffic you already have, a new rep inherits the same leak. Decide what is broken before you decide who to hire.
5 Name the one gap, then fix only that
Force yourself to one sentence: "Revenue is stalled because ____." That sentence is your blueprint. Fix that one thing, measure, and only then move to the next. Spreading budget across five guesses is how stalls get expensive.
